Harriet Merry - The School Run
The School Run is a short, lyrical graphic novel for adults, which makes use of slice of life elements in literary fiction to tell what is essentially a story about listening to each other and to the world. Exploring themes of empathy and the environment, the novel is set in the inner world of the car and examines the bittersweet lives of its characters and their relationship with not only each other, but the planet they live on. Rendered mainly with environmentally friendly prints made from recycled packaging, it is also an attempt to confront the guilt the Mum, Harriet (or Me) feels about contributing to the environmental crisis by driving 240 miles a week and polluting the precious countryside in a petrol fuelled car.
